ONLINE CONCERT: Mermaid Radio i.s.m. 50l50 Podium

The Mermaids zijn terug in Belcampo! Niet alleen zullen ze hun splinternieuwe EP spelen, ze zullen ook enkele nieuwe nummers ten gehore brengen. Zet je snorkel op en neem een duik!

Raya Hadzhieva (trumpet, electronica) en Charllotte Karlsted (vocals, live-looping) hebben elkaar leren kennen tijdens een compositie opdracht in 2017. “We moeten echt een keer samen een track maken“, zeiden ze vaak tegen elkaar. In februari 2019 was het zover, en de eerste gezamenlijke track “Waterfall of Time“ ontstond al binnen een week. In mei 2019 waren ze alweer tweeënhalve tracks en twee optredens verder en gaven zij hun samenwerking een naam: Mermaid Radio. Mermaid Radio staat voor avontuurlijke beats, creative flow en vrijheid, zowel in muzikaal als ook poëtisch water. Hun muziek kan omschreven worden als een speelse crossover tussen elektronische muziek, indie pop en (wereld) jazz.

The Mermaids are back in Belcampo! Not only will they perform their brand new EP, but also some lovely new tracks will be showcased and premiered. Put on your snorkel-gear and take a dive!

Raya Hadzhieva (trumpet, electronics) and Charllotte Karlsted (vocals, live-looping) are two independent musicians based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, who met while writing music for a project in 2017. “We should really make a track together sometime”, they would often say to each other. And in February 2019 it happened: they created their first track “Waterfall Of Time” within a week. In May 2019 they were two performances and two and a half tracks along the way, and they gave their project a name: Mermaid Radio.

Mermaid Radio embodies adventurous beats, creative flow and freedom, both musically as well as poetically.
Their music can be described as a playful crossover between electronic music, indie pop and (world) jazz.
