My Life in Excel - Bitter Sweet Dance -POSTPONED- new date coming soon

Een moeder hield wegens een juridisch geschil over de zorg voor haar twee kinderen haar leven twee jaar lang bij in een Excel sheet. Een werkelijkheid in hokjes; waargebeurd, maar tegelijkertijd veraf van de realiteit van haar dagelijkse leven. Hoe verhouden deze kille data zich tot de emotionele, mentale en fysieke herinneringen aan die tijd? Choreograaf Liat Waysbort staat na jaren zelf weer op het podium en reflecteert met dans en tekst op deze persoonlijke periode uit haar leven. Herinneringen uit die tijd – frustratie, ongeloof, gebroken dromen, maar ook kracht, vechtlust en gevoelens van absurditeit – worden voelbaar. Big data specialist Dana Ganot staat naast Liat op en podium en ontleedt op ontnuchterende wijze de relatie tussen data en ons dagelijkse bestaan.

Bitter Sweet Dance zet persoonlijke verhalen in om een groter verhaal te vertellen over de wereld om ons heen. Verontrustende onderwerpen in de maatschappij lopen als een onderstroom door de sterk fysieke multidisciplinaire voorstellingen die tot in elke vezel van het lichaam doordringen. Dit leidde tot werken als Titanic en Gioia Live. BSD ondermijnt clichés rond leeftijd, gender en lichamelijkheid, rekt definities van schoonheid op en maakt al het menselijke tastbaar. ‘It grabs you by the senses’.

Due to a legal dispute over the care of her two children, a mother is forced to keep track of her life in an Excel sheet for two years. A reality in boxes; true, but at the same time far removed from the life she experienced. How does this cold data relate to the emotional, mental and physical memories of that time? Choreographer Liat Waysbort is back on stage again herself, reflecting on this personal period of her life through dance and text. Memories from that time – frustration, disbelief, broken dreams, but also strength, fighting spirit and feelings of absurdity – become tangible. Big data specialist Dana Ganot joins her on stage and professionally dissects the relationship between data and our daily existence.

Bitter Sweet Dance uses personal stories to tell a bigger story about the world around us. Urgent subjects in society run like an undercurrent through the highly physical multidisciplinary performances, which permeate every fibre of the body. This led to works such as Titanic and Gioia Live. Bitter Sweet Dance undermines clichés of age, gender and physicality, stretches definitions of beauty and makes all things human tangible. It grabs you by the senses.
