Op de naamdag van Susanna speelt het Corona Ensemble Sancta Susanna: Het hele verhaal.

Sancta Susanna is een nieuwe compositie door Hugo Bouma, waarin reeds bestaande vocale (renaissance)muziek en volksliedjes worden samengevoegd met nieuwe muziek tot één groot geheel, net als in het renaissancegenre de ‘ensalada’. Het stuk is gebaseerd op het stokoude verhaal van Susanna: hoe zij belaagd werd, het onrecht van de valse getuigenis, hoe het bijna verkeerd voor haar afliep, maar hoe het recht zegevierde. De première is op 14 juni 2020 om 14u in de Hermitage Amsterdam, maar in deze preview op 19 december krijgt u alvast een voorproefje van hoe het stuk gaat worden – tot een half uur aangevuld met renaissancemuziek.

Sancta Susanne is a new composition by Hugo Bouma, combining existing vocal (renaissance) music with folk songs, as in the renaissance genre ‘ensalada’. The piece is based on the ancient story of Susanna: how she was attacked, the injustice of the false statement, and how things almost went wrong, until justice prevailed. The premiere is on June 14th 2020 at 2pm in the Hermitage Amsterdam. We will give a preview with renaissance music on December 19th.
