Evenement Details

An evening where 3 dancers -Ahmad Joudeh, Kelly de Briais Backer, and Lucien Denny perform solos, each of them with a story to tell.
Kelly and Lucien, both members of Danstheater AYA who participate in the program ‘Tinten’ are dancers of color. In their performances and in the discussion afterwards, they express their experiences with the institutional racism that is still part of society. Through their stories, it becomes tangible what it means to be black in the Netherlands.
Ahmad Joudeh was born in Yarmouk, a Palestinian Refugee Camp in Damascus, Syria. Since his father is a son of a Palestinian refugee, Ahmad Joudeh was born as a stateless refugee, although the mother is Syrian from Palmyra. Ahmad came to the Netherlands in 2016 and has gained fame through various performances, and the Dance or Die documentary. He has recently published an autobiography.
