“Who am I without my story?”

Who am I without my story? is a dance theater collage about the identities of two young women. We have asked ourselves, how have my parents and people close to me shaped me? What has formed my identity? Who am I without my story?
Choreografie: Zahira Mous, a dance artist from the Netherlands with a Master of Fine Arts in Modern Dance and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s & Gender Studies from the University of Oklahoma. Her works explore female identity and merge the disciplines of dance and theater.
Performers: Merel Cornet & Maria Kuchowicz

“beit Beit Jissmi”

beit Beit Jissmi
is a dance work choreographed by Lebanese dance artist Charlie Prince.
It is a solo piece that explores the body as house and consequently the body as home, as a place where dreams and memories can find their refuge. A house constitues a body of images – it gives us the proof or illusion of stability, of repose. It is often imagined as a vertical being, it rises upwards ; a concentrated being that appeals to our consciousness of centrality.

In this piece, I will go beyond simple geometrical reference to the house as an inert box. The house, the home – is an inhabited space the transcends shape – it  is a breathe, a wind – a soul inside our body of flesh. Here the house acquires physical and moral energy of a human body, mine. It braces itself to confront the downpours, the storms, the sunshine and the distant past – however traumatic or comforting that maybe.  The house grows and spreads, to the greater elasticity of daydreaming – an infinitely extensible vapor, with walls that contract and expand – that protect – that shelter.

“Symmetry abolished, to serve as fodder for the winds” Geroges Spyridaki

My home is a cosmic house, that moves about the breath of time, it embraces the imprecision of my inner life- the memories and dreams of my past. The journey in this piece is a slow walk through the rooms inside my body. I am revealing the images of my psychic states inside this house – I am drawing my invisible home.

Choreografie: Charlie Prince. Charlie is a an artist currently based in Amsterdam.
